Sports Camp

We had sports camp today and Wright had a great time. He seems to be learning a lot about sharing, teamwork, following directions the first time, waiting his turn and of course hand-eye coordination, strength training, etc. It is really a wonderful camp and the teacher is so great with the little guys. After camp, we stayed and played in the Blakeslees backyard blow-up pool. The boys had the best time and did not want to get out!

Wright's Prayers

Wright's prayer tonight before bed went like this...

Me - Wright what do you want to thank God for?
Wright - Um, Jesus, Murray, Jeff, Greg, Anthony (the Wiggles), all my cars...and my other car.

This about sums up his loves these days :) At least Jesus made the cut!

Wright's First Baseball Game

We went to the Roughriders game last weekend and Wright had a great time. The big highlights were the food (hot dog, chips and ice cream) and the mascot which he thought was a yellow dinosaur who must be friends with Dorothy the Dinosaur from Wiggles. This was big talk the whole night. He also really liked the playground area where he was almost trampled a million times by kids 4 times his size. The part he seemed least interested in was the actual baseball playing. I quickly realized why Brendan wants to put off Wright's major league debut for a much later date. It was funny that when we got there he kept talking about how he wanted to go to the baseball game, we have to hurry to get to the game, etc. We realized as we got to our seats and he began to throw a fit that he thought he was going to be playing in the game. No wonder he wanted to bring his bat. I am sure this line of thinking came from a Dora episode where Boots has to hurry to play in the baseball game. Poor kid is so warped by TV!

Lovin that hotdog, bun, mustard and all.

Cheering - this interest in the game was short lived.

What We've Been Up To

I have been so bad about blogging recently. Summer is here and we have been super busy. Brendan had back surgery a few weeks ago and while I was supposed to be home being a nurse to him, I got horribly sick with a stomach virus. It was awful and we had to pawn our kids off to anyone who would take them :) Once I was better (about 4 days later), Brendan was pretty self sufficient. I felt terrbile that I was basically no help at all.

The kids are doing great. Wright is doing one day of school this summer, and we started sports camp last week which I think he is going to really love. We started potty training last weekend and it was a HUGE disaster - he was just totally not ready, or at least not acting ready. So we went back to diapers all week and decided to give it another try this weekend. He has been like a completely different child. We started back up yesterday and he only had 2 accidents. Then today, he had none! And we even took him to a baseball game tonight where he went 3 times on his folding portable potty seat in the public bathroom. We are very proud and trying not to jinx ourselves by getting too excited.

Spencer is as easy as ever. He is seriously the happiest baby. All you have to do is talk to him or smile at him and he just laughs and coos loudly. He is starting to really love his big brother too and notice him a lot. The other day we were swinging in the backyard and I was holding Spencer and pushing Wright. Everytime Wright would come toward us, Spencer would just laugh hysterically...that wonderful deep belly baby laugh. You just can't help but smile around him. He is also so easy to take care of, as long as he gets fed, he is good to go. We are so blessed to have another easy baby :)

Some funny things Wright says these days...

"Are you kidding me Spencer?" - when he spits up
"Just a moment, Mom."
"Dad, are you ok? You hurt your back? You need to go to the hospital?"

There are so many more that I can't think of right now...

Spencer's Milestones

Over the past week or so, Spencer has advanced by leaps and bounds. He grabs onto toys and talks to them. He is cooing like crazy. And yesterday was a big day because he rolled over (from stomach to back), started sucking his thumb and slept an 11 hour stretch (8-7)! Here is a pic of him from today...

Blinded by Love

Gotta love my sweet 2 year old who thinks I am the most beautiful woman in the world. Yesterday I had a People magazine out and he was looking at the pictures and came across this one of Scarlett Johansson. He exclaimed "Look! It's mommy!" I said "No, that's not mommy." (laughing) And he insisted "Yes it's mommy in the shower!" LOL! Talk about good for your confidence...

#1 Baseball Fan

Ever since baseball season started this year, Wright is dying to go to a game. We are going to a minor league game in June because Brendan says he is too young to appreciate the majors. Here is an example of his passion...

Crazy Days!

To say that our lives have gotten twice as crazy since we have had Spencer is an understatement! A funny (in hind sight) example is our evening last night. We got home from the grocery store way later than expected and both of our boys were grouchy and hungry. I was rushing to get Spencer his bottle while Brendan was getting Wright's dinner together. While running around feeding Spencer and trying to help get the food on the table, I tripped and fell hard onto the dog crate. By some miracle, I lifted Spencer up in the air and managed to keep him from getting hit. However it made a loud noise and was scary to say the least... Anyways, after Spencer quit screaming and I was back on my feet, I walked back toward the table. Wright had been saying "Mommy, mommy" for a few minutes and I was ignoring him in light of everything else going on. Finally I said "Yes Wright, what is it?" and he answered "I spit up." I looked at him and he was sitting in a pile of throw up! All I could do was laugh to myself and think "Lord, what are you teaching me here?" Patience and perseverence I guess, I am going to have a TON of that!

4 Months - Comparison

Wright and Spencer at 4 months. I just noticed that they have the exact same hair and cowlick!

My Baby is 4 Months!

I can't believe Spencer is already 4 months! We had his checkup today and he is now 13.5 lbs! He is in the 23% for weight (up from 5%), 30% for height and 40% for head. We did his ages and stages quiz as well, and he is definitely developmentally behind for a 4 month old which we expected. The dr assured me that he will catch up soon and is actually doing really well considering all he went through and his corrected age.

Here is what he is up to these days... He is very smiley and content all the time. He really only cries when he is hungry or way overtired (been in his car seat ALL day). He coos all the time and loves to talk to his cow that hangs from his carseat. He is out of the swaddle for naps but still needs it at night. He sleeps from 10-7:30 straight - WOOHOO!!!!

Cooing...

What a handsome boy!

Look at those dimples!

Spencer and Amelia are almost the same size now!

Spencer 3.5 months

Comparison Photo - Spencer (L), Wright (R)

Spencer is such a sweet baby, I just fall more in love with him every day. He loves to lay on his play mat and smile at the bumble bees that hang above him. He also loves the animals on his mobile and car seat. But his biggest smiles come when I talk to him - he just looks at me so adoringly which of course melts my heart. Recently he has started blowing bubbles a lot. He also is taking great naps throughout the day and sleeping about 6-7 hours at night. Since he gained 3.5 pounds in less than 2 months, I am pretty confident he will be in a much higher weight percentile at his 4 month checkup in a few weeks. Every once in a while, he will make a face that looks like Wright, but in general he is really just his own person. We are not sure who he looks like exacly...

Bon Jovi

Brendan and I had a great date night Sunday night at the Bon Jovi concert at AAC. We were so lucky to get to sit in an incredible suite. We went with several of Brendan's college friends and their wives/girlfriends. It was a much needed break from the kids and an all around awesome time!

Here are the guys with Bon Jovi in the background.

Updates on my boys

Here is Wright feeding his doll just like I feed Spencer - boppy and all. He is such a good big brother. Tonight he wanted to hold Spencer's hands while we were saying bedtime prayers. Then he has to kiss him on the head every night. He has also become the king of temper tantrums and does not like to be told what to do ever. He argues with us and likes to be right no matter what. We can't get too irritated considering that he likely got these traits from both his parents :) We are starting to work on potty training too and did "naked time" today for the first time. Already had some accidents on the carpet - fun times!

Spencer is now big enough to sit in his green seat and watch what's going on around him. He loves it! He has also grown immensely in the last 1.5 months. We had to go to the doctor on Saturday morning because the poor thing has a double ear infection. While we were there, they weighed him and he was 12 pounds 5 ounces - that is alost 3.5 pounds more than at 2 months! He is really the sweetest most mild mannered baby and he loves to be cuddled so much more than Wright ever did. When I hold him up over my shoulder, he grabs on to my arm and lays his head on me. It's so sweet and melts my heart. He is still not sleeping through the night, getting up at 10:30pm and 2:30am. Since he is only 9 weeks by his corrected age, I am still hopeful he will get there in the next 3 weeks or so. I forget what it feels like to not be exhausted!!!

Easter 2010

Luke, Max and Wright in their Easter best. Luke kept tickling Wright to get him to smile.

Our family - Spencer slept ALL Easter morning and then when we were ready for a nap, he was wide awake!

Wright still loves to eat the chocolate out of the eggs immediately.
