We had a big day today! This morning we went to visit Jennie at her house because she is on bed rest. Then Candace met us and we took Jake to the library. He is such an easy and cute little boy - we had the best time. We read books and picked out books and movies for Jake to take home with him. The funniest part was on the way there we kept talking about Thomas the Train because Jennie told us he loves Thomas. So, when we got there we had to search everywhere for Thomas books which they had none of. Jake kept repeating "Thomas, Thomas" over and over and every book we showed him he would say "No! Thomas?". It was hysterical.
This afternoon we went to play group at Blaire and Riley's house and played with Charles, Lanie, Molly, Lauren and the twins. It was a big time. Wright's favorite thing today was to crawl on top of every baby and then stop with his butt right in their faces. At one point, Charles was spanking him repeatedly trying to get him out of the way. It was so funny to watch! Besides that, he also loved playing with Caroline's fake decorative plant and the tag on the blanket laying on the floor. Oh the things that entertain him...

Big Day

9 Months Old
Wright had his 9 month checkup yesterday and it is crazy to me fast he is growing up. I walked into the doctor's office and saw moms with their newborns. It feels like that was us just yesterday. He is definitely getting bigger now that he is eating solid foods. He has gone from 25th to 50th percentile in weight and from 50th to 60th in height. His head is 70th percentile which I attribute to how brilliant he is. ;) We just love him so much and enjoy him more everyday.

Bumps and Bruises
Pretty much every day, Wright watches Lucy out the window while she plays outside. He loves it and squeals and shrieks the whole time. Every once in a while, his fingers slip from the window, and he falls down. It has been the source of many cuts, scrapes and bruises. This week he got a big bump on his head, but he still went right back to watch her. I guess he thinks she is worth it.

Eating with Daddy
Wright came home from playgroup today exhausted and had to take a short nap to recover. This turned out to be a great thing because when he woke up, Daddy was already home from work. So, for the first time in a while, Daddy gave him his dinner. For whatever reason, this was the coolest and most hysterical thing that Wright has experienced in a while. Every thing Daddy did made him laugh so hard. Daddy would just look at him and he would be cracking up. I think he just thought it was really fun to have someone else give him his dinner besides boring old Mommy. Of course the whole time Daddy was worried that Wright was going to choke. The pictures and video show it all.

A Healthy Baby
We received great news today when we took Wright to the doctor for the 5th time in 2 months and found out that despite him scratching his ears, he does not have another ear infection. The doctor said he does have a slightly red throat which could be why he was grabbing his ears, but the ears look clear. This is wonderful because I did not want to have to deal with tubes and all of that. Now our prayer is that he stays well for a while. And what this information told me too is that he must have missed us while we were gone (which secretly makes me feel good). :)

Lake Weekend
Brendan and I left Wright this weekend and went to the Crofford's lakehouse. It was hard leaving him behind but we had the best time while we were there. We did lots of fun boat activities including Brendan and I tubing until we wiped out and me attempting to surf behind the boat (I never mastered that one.) Needless to say, we are both super sore today.
The only hard part of not having Wright with us was that when my mom called, she would tell us that he was being fussy and not eating a lot. This morning, she called at 8am and told us that he just was not being himself and asked us to come back. So, we jumped in the car and drove to Dallas. He did have a low fever and has been scratching his ear, so we think his ear infection is back yet again. But, since we have been back, he has been acting more like his normal self, so part of me thinks he just missed mom and dad.
More than anything, we also think he missed his dog. He adores Lucy more than anyone. Everytime she comes around, he laughs hysterically. He loves watching her fetch the ball and play outside.

Leaving the Baby Behind
Brendan and I are going to the Crofford's lakehouse tomorrow and not coming back until Sunday afternoon. This will be the longest we have left Wright since he was born. I am assured that Wright will have no idea that we are away and will be just fine, but I would be lying if I said that I was not a little sad to leave him. The main thing I am going to miss is seeing what new things he will do.
Just yesterday, he started squeezing his hands together repeatedly like he was milking a cow. This was something he just taught himself and it means nothing to him (that I know of) or me, but he thinks it is the greatest thing he can do. Every time he does it, he starts smiling and laughing and every time I imitate it, he laughs even harder. It is cute stuff like this that makes it hard to leave him for 2 1/2 days. What if I miss another first while I am gone!?!
That all being said, Brendan and I are very excited to get out of town and have some adult time, and we know we will have a blast.

It's Just a Little Spit Up
Anyone who knows Wright at all knows that ever since he was born, he has had a major spitting up problem. The doctor assures us that nothing is wrong with him and he is growing normally, but this child pukes more than any baby I have ever seen. It has always been a pain to deal with but when he started eating solid foods, it stopped being a nuisance and began being just plain gross.
Today we were out running errands and he looked so cute in his outfit that I decided to live on the edge and keep the bib off. I was taking him in and out of his car seat as we went from store to store and holding him in my arms while we were inside. Every time we got out of the car, I would say "Please please please don't spit up on me." and for over an hour he held up his end of the bargain. I think you know where this is going...
We were waiting in line at the movie store and this nice older lady was behind us talking to Wright and telling me how adorable he is. She was pinching his toes and cooing with him and then out of nowhere, there is throw up everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE! It is all over my arm and splattered on the floor. As I am profusely apologizing, she is busy looking in her purse for something to help me clean it up. I could not have been more embarrassed. Luckily, she was nice enough to be understanding (or at least to pretend to not care that there was baby barf on her shoes). And on top of all of this, his cute outfit was covered and smelled like his lunch...I don't know why I bother. Oh, another day in the life of motherhood.

A Life in the Balance
Wright loves playing in his newly renovated playroom with all of his toys. He is pulling up on absolutely everything, even some of his toys that are constantly falling over on top of him. Check out this video to see what I mean...

Splash Park with Friends
He is growing so much every day and is very independent and thoughtful. Recently, he is a big talker. Everything is ba ba, da da, pah pah, hah hah and ma ma, but ba ba ba ba ba is by far his favorite thing to say. He has also started waving his arm which I swear is him attempting to say "hello" and "goodbye." Now that he is crawling everywhere, he is getting into a lot more trouble. Last weekend he fell three times and had a bruise on his head, busted lip and cut on his face. He cries when he first hurts himself but quickly recovers and goes right back to what he was doing. Such a boy!
