Candace is Wright's godmother and she is always so good to him and interested in all of the things he does. Here is a cute pic of them from the other night when she came over for dinner.

Thanksgiving
We went to Midland for Thanksgiving and the Mitchells were there too. We had a good time and Wright did well on the trip both ways. He of course was teething and coughing while we were there so the nights were a little rough, but overall it was great. Gigi and Papoo got to play with him and see his walking and we also go to visit Great-ma and Great-pa. There are not a lot of pics to share, but here are a few we got.

Singing, Dancing, Walking and Talking
Wright just turned 13 months old and he has grown up so much in the past few weeks. Today we had to go to the doctor to get a flu shot booster and a lady was there with her baby in the carrier (probably 5 months old). Wright walked up to the baby and the lady said to Wright, "Do you see the baby?" I was thinking, "Wait, he is a baby too!"or is he not?
He is officially walking as his preferred method of getting around. In the last couple of days, he has gotten really good at it and can cruise around his playroom without even falling down. Another cute thing he does is his dancing and singing. When we are in the car listening to his music, he goes "Da da da" in a singing voice and starts slapping his knees, clapping his hands and lifting his hands in the air. We hope the knee slapping is just a phase ;) He also has this toy that plays music when you hit a button and he likes to stand next to it and dance (bounce up and down and clap his hands). It is so cute.
Everyday he is learning new words too. Just this morning, out of nowhere, he saw Mia and said cat in a very clear voice. He also says ball, puhpuh (puppy), uh-oh, mama, dada, hi and baba (bye).

First Steps
Wright has been standing on his own for a couple of weeks now, so we expected that walking was around the corner. We were out to dinner with friends on Friday night and I called Mimi to check in on Wright. She said "You did not tell me he was walking!" WHAT! He is NOT walking (that I know of). Well according to her, he took 5 steps that night. So the next day, Brendan and I had Wright back in the playroom practicing his steps. We managed to get about 2 out of him. But, every day since then, he has taken a few steps here and there. He still much prefers crawling but we know that he will be a full fledged walker soon!

Atlanta Day Four
As our time in Atl ended, we were all very sad. The good news is that Kimmy and fam will be here soon for Christmas, and hopefully Mo and Kristin will also come to visit in the next year. Here are some more pics of the last 2 days.
Brewer was SO sweet with Wright. He kept wanting to hold him, kiss him and say "Baby Wright, you are SOOOOOOOOO cute!" (in a baby voice).
Porter and Wright in the wagon.
Let's race!

Atlanta Day Three
On the third day of our trip, we all headed to the zoo. What a great time all the boys had. Brewer rock climbed, Cannon rode the train and Wright and Porter rode in the stroller and checked out the animals.
Headed to the zoo..
Wright, me and the billy goats at the petting zoo.
Zebras, Giraffes, Wright and me.
All the cousins in their stripes.
2 little monkeys posing with a big monkey.
Brewer climbed to the top of the rock climbing wall 3 times!

Wright loved his first merry go round ride.

Atlanta Day Two
On day two, we headed to the Children's Museum with Kim, Porter, Morgan, PoPo, Kristin and Margaret Gail. What a perfect place for the kiddos. They all had such a great time running/crawling around and exploring. It was so great to see Kristin and meet precious Margaret Gail who is almost exactly Wright's age.
Wright and Porter eating breakfast together.
Driving a tractor.
He loved climbing in the shelves.
Playing in the flower bed.
Wright and PoPo watering the plants.
Having a good time by himself.
Aunt Kimmy and Wright.
Margaret Gail and Wright loved the fake food.

Atlanta Day One
Wright and I went to Atlanta for 5 days to visit Kim and fam and Morgan and Porter. We had the greatest time and Wright loved playing with his big cousins. Porter C. and Porter H. (PoPo) were very cute together - only 3 days apart with the same name.
Wright riding a Superman bike.
Porter was too cute on the scooter.
Porter, PoPo and Wright.
Wright loved riding in the red car.
Aunt Kimmy made mini pumpkin cakes for Wright's birthday and we all celebrated.
Loving that icing.
All the boys got a much needed bath after a long day. Wright was a little freaked out with 3 crazy kids and no seat, but it was worth it for the pics ;)

Halloween 2008
We went to the neighborhood carnival with Melanie, Patrick, Max, Luke and Mimi on Halloween night. Wright was happy to be wearing his costume for the LAST time. Max was a soldier, Luke was Obewon and Patrick matched Max with camo clothes.
Heading to the carnival.
Luke and Brendan wearing Luke's creepy mask.
R2D2, Max, Wright and me.
Patrick and Wright hanging out. We took the dinosaur head off after tons of dancing made him too hot.

Play Group Halloween Party
We had the entire play group over to our house with moms and dads for a Halloween Party. It was tons of fun to see all of the babies in their costumes. Wright was not happy at all in his dinosaur outfit because he was hot and not feeling great. But it was worth it to get some great pics. My favorite is the one of all the babies together on the couch - they were ALL crying!nu=3239)597)9;4)232+597+5592ot1lsi.jpg)

One Year Checkup and Update
Wright had his one year checkup and he hated every minute of it. I have never seen him get so upset as he did when he got his 4 shots! He turned bright red, was screaming and shaking...poor guy. He is in the 45th percentile for height, 60th for weight and 70th for head. The dr. said that based on Brendan's and my height, he will probably be a little taller than dad when he is done growing. Basically, I interpreted all of this as another example that he got pretty much all of Brendan's genes and none of mine. I am still claiming his hair as coming from me though...although Brendan has better hair (sorry Wright) :)
As of today, he has started standing on his own. He has been doing this for a while now but every time he realized he was standing, he would quickly sit down. Today I have seen him standing twice without any help. Maybe walking is on the horizon, but he really still shows very little interest.

Wright is One!
Wright turned one yesterday and we had a great day. Gigi and Papoo were in town to celebrate and stayed at our house. We started the day by waking Wright up with cameras and the Birthday song. Then he had a blueberry muffin with a candle and another round of the birthday song. In the afternoon, we had family over for a party complete with cake, ice cream, balloons and tons of gifts. He had a blast. He ate the icing off the cake in pieces and was done after that. His favorite part was definitely playing with all of his big cousins. After the party, the whole fam went to Tilley's for dinner. What a day! Wright (and I) crashed when it was all over.
Gettin' ready for the big day in my birthday tee shirt.
Waking up on the big day.

Papoo is so fun to look at with a beard and glasses!
My crazy cousins wore these gross teeth for Halloween.

Lovin' that blue icing.
Opening gifts was crazy, but at least all the cousins helped.
Gigi, Papoo, Greatma and Greatpa gave me a piano that I love!

Check out my Michael Strahan teeth!
