Wright is at that age that he is really just doing something cute and memorable every day. Here are a few I want to remember...
- He LOVES to turn the lights on and off. When I get him out of the bed in the morning or after a nap, he immediately stands in his crib and starts shouting "Light, light!" and I have to go get him and let him turn it on.
- He repeats pretty much every word we say and has gotten really good at knowing how to say things by sight. Not too long ago, we would have to say "point to the flower" and he would do that. Now, I can say "what is this?" and he will say "flower". So smart!
- He likes to help pick up small pieces of trash that he finds around the house. He will come up to me and say "trash" and then run to the trash can, open it and drop it in. This is especially nice after he drops half of his dinner on the floor!
- The other day, he fell asleep on the way home from running errands. When we got in the garage, I had my hands full of bags, etc so I got him out of his seat to walk inside and then turned to go in. When I realized he was not right behind me per usual, I looked back at him and saw him laying on the garage floor! I guess he was SUPER tired, but it made me laugh so hard.
- He is very independent and wants to be a big boy so badly. He especially loves to play with his big cousins and older friends.
- He is obsessed with TV. Everyday is a battle as he runs to sit in his red chair in front of the TV and repeats "show, show". We have had to limit it to less than 30 minutes a day.
- He is a great dancer and has made up some stellar moves that I never want to forget. We have started daily dance party in the kitchen where we crank music and just let loose. It is fun for me too, especially since he won't make fun of my terrible dancing!

Weekend in Dripping Springs
Brendan and I enjoyed a weekend away baby-free in Dripping Springs celebrating Elizabeth's 30th birthday party. We stayed in her Aunt June's AWESOME guest house that was entertainment-ready with a pool table, ping pong, big screen TV and my favorite, lots of games. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate with us and it rained pretty much all day Saturday. So, sorry to everyone who sees me on a regular basis, but I am still quite pasty! At least we still got some time in the pool Friday afternoon and the hot tub (despite rain) on Saturday. In addition to amazing surroundings and beautiful accommodations, June cooked all of our meals for us. What a treat!
Wright stayed with Mimi at our house. She took him first thing to get a new toy so we knew he was going to have a great time. According to her, he was happy and very independent the entire time we were gone. But when we went to pick him up, he did want me to hold him and he basically laid on my shoulder for about 5 minutes. And when we put him to bed tonight, he cried and cried when we left the room which he never does. So, I think he is experiencing a little separation anxiety.
Here are some pics of the river area by the house where we stayed. The Hill Country really is "God's Country".

Blog is Going Private
I am going to make my blog private as of next week because I am hearing horror stories about weirdos getting on friend's blogs, etc. That being said, if you are a friend and really do look at my blog and want to continue to do so, please email me or put a comment on this post and let me know. I can easily invite you and you will still be able to view it. I don't want to lose any blog followers, but also don't want creeps tracking my life :)

Playing with Jake
Wright loved playing with Jake today as always. On our way over there, we practiced saying Jake and Owen. He has Owen down pretty well, but kept saying "Atch" for Jake. No idea why. Anyways, when we got there, I got out Wright's snack bag and milk and was letting him grab his snacks as he wanted them. Typically he would inhale all his food immediately, but since he was so busy, he sort of left it alone. This greatly concerned Jake who has probably never left his food just sitting there. So he kept coming up to me and Wright and saying, "Here are his raisens" or "Wright, want your crackers?" SO funny. Then he was like "Wright here is your milk" and took his cup over and was holding it up to his mouth for him! I captured that on camera. So cute!
Jake, don't worry. Wright is not gonna blow away anytime soon! :)
"Here Wright, here's your milk."
"I'll take that, thank you."

My Second Mother's Day
This was my second official Mother's Day, but really I count it as my first one since last year we were traveling back from Maryland and didn't do much. I had such a great day and am so thankful for my precious little boy and wonderful husband. We got up (I got to sleep in), went to church, brunch at Cantina Laredo, then home for gifts. Wright got me some really pretty earrings, Lucy got me a candle and Brendan got me a cool shirt from Anthropologie. Then I got to take a nap! Great day!
That evening, we went to Melanie's house for dinner and to celebrate with Mimi too. Wright wanted to join the big cousins in the hot tub for swimming, so I got in with him. He had a great time in the water splashing, dunking under, jumping in to me (while holding my hands) and even floating on his back. I was very impressed with his comfort in the pool and think we might have a little fish on our hands. Funny side note...whenever I count to three with him like when we were dunking under the water, he tries to count with me. But he cannot say one or three very well, so he just keeps saying "two", "two". Precious!

Max's Baseball Game
We finally made it to one of Max's baseball games and we had a great time! Right when we got there, Max was up to bat and he hit a home run! I could not believe it and was crying (out of excitement) - yes I am my mother's child. Gosh, if I am that emotional about my nephew playing sports, I don't even want to know how sappy I will be when Wright succeeds at something :) Anyways, Wright had a great time too and got to eat ice cream from the ice cream truck and play baseball with a cute older girl.
Max about to hit his home run.
Playing first base.
Wright loving his ice cream bar.
Look Mom, it's a real baseball!

Something to Remember
This is just something I want to remember. The other day we were in the car running errands and passed our street, and Wright said "house". He knew our house was right down that street. Then today we were going to a friend's house that is right by his school and we turned the corner that his school is on and he said "cool" which means school. Then when we got to our friend's house he said "Elle", "Lanie" because the last time we were there that is who he played with. It never ceases to amaze me what he knows and understands!

My Little Flirt
So I picked Wright up a few minutes early from school today and he was sitting next to one of the little girls in his class with his back turned to me. They were nicely playing together with a toy and his teachers looked at me and were like "Those two have something going on." I asked what they meant and they told me that all day they have been kissing each other ON THE LIPS and at one point they were both looking out the window and she put her arm around him. LOL! I guess all the practice hanging out with little girls is teaching Wright to be a ladies' man.
Also as of the last week or so, his new favorite thing to do when he says bye is to blow kisses. I have no idea where he learned this because we did not teach it to him. But it is pretty darn cute. He even blew a kiss at the man who was helping us at the Post Office today. We might need to teach some boundaries with the kisses, but it is a crowd pleaser for sure.

18 Month Checkup
We went to Wright's 18 month checkup today. He is 75% head, 70% weight and 50% height. Of course I had to ask Dr. D if it was bad that he was higher in weight than height, I mean lots of people do comment on how heavy he is. He assured me that he is ok, he just has a lot of muscle mass which weighs more. LOL! He did not get muscle mass from his mother! Anyways, overall the appts went well. I got some tips on the whining (redirect) and picky eating (sneak in healthy stuff) which were helpful. I also asked how much TV is allowable for his age since I feel like Wright is becoming an addict. I was a little embarassed when the dr. said, "Well at this age, none." Whoops! We have been staying under 1 hour a day, but none is going to be a challenge considering we spend a lot of time at home. Guess I have a new goal...

Arts and Crafts
Wright recently has started loving arts and crafts. I had tried to get him to color or play with play dough in his high chair a couple times in the past and he showed no interest. Then my experienced mom friends suggested putting him at a table or somewhere that is not associated with eating. So we got out this small kids' table we had and he immediately loved it. Thanks Jennie and Sarah! We even added some cookie cutters and plastic cutlery. Now he begs to get out the play dough every day. Yesterday at school he colored/scribbled with crayons. When he got home, the first thing he did was go to the arts and crafts drawer and look for his crayons. He even knew how to hold them correctly (well at least pointy part down) - amazing what they pick up from watching other kids! Then when he was done, he was very insistent that he put the crayons back in the box by himself with NO HELP FROM MOM! Needless to say, this took a while :)
Working so intently.
What mom? I am trying to work here!

Trip to Houston
We went down to Houston last weekend to visit Chris and Laura Hutcheson and their new baby Cooper. It was so great to see them and be able to catch up. We even got to go out without kids one night which was very nice. Wright LOVED the baby. He kept saying "baby, baby, baby" on repeat and wanted to touch him and show him things. It was the first time we have seen him really notice babies and seem to be so interested in them. Guess he is ready for a little brother or sister. :) He also had a great time at the zoo checking out all the animals and making their noises as he saw them.
Wright, Cooper and Brendan.
Sweet sleeping baby.

The Weekend
We had a great weekend starting Thursday night at the neighborhood happy hour. Wright and I walked over with Ashley, Jack Henry, Kristin and Cade and Brendan met us after work. It was the perfect yard for the kids to play, tons of toys and fenced in from front to back. We loved meeting some of our neighbors and all the kids. Friday we met Ashley and Jack Henry at the Galleria play area to let the boys run around since it was raining outside. Wright was VERY stir crazy! When Brendan got home from work, we tried out Fernando's near our house for dinner and had some great Mexican food. Saturday afternoon we headed out to Fort Worth with the Akhtars to have dinner at the Holms' with them and the Davidsons. It was great to catch up and see all the kids together. They all played well (with the exception of a few scuffles between the big boys). Today we went to church and then to the Arboretum this afternoon to attempt to capture some cute Spring pics of Wright.
Wright loved this cool red car at the neighborhood happy hour.
Wright, Cade and Jack Henry in the giant sandbox - it was hard to get them out of it!
Wright in the playhouse.
At the Holms' house, he loved playing with all the toy cars and this tractor.
Nelson and sweet Eleanor with those beautiful blue eyes.
The big boys played basketball.
Precious Molly in her cute white pants.
It was virtually impossible to get Wright to stop running for a picture.
Sort of serious per usual.
He also kept going up and down all the stairs.
Petting the deer statue like he pets Lucy.
Hi Dad!
There's a smile. :)

A Day at the Farm
We had a great morning today at Owen Spring Creek Farm with the LHAECPTA play group. Alycia and I met there with the kiddos around 9:45. They had all sorts of activities to do including feeding the goats, a tour of animals and a hayride. Wright was a pistol the whole time not wanting to be held, running away from the group and continually trying to climb inside the fences to get closer to the animals. He knows how to test my patience for sure, but we had a great time! We finished off the morning with a picnic lunch and Wright fell asleep in the car within 5 minutes on the way home.
Lanie and Wright hanging out before the tour began.
Wright felt pretty cool sitting on this big rock.
He was not so sure what to think of the goats at first.
Now he begins to get the hang of it.
This feed tastes good mom!
A few of the friends feeding the goats.
Wright kept trying to climb into the donkey cage.
Lanie and Wright watching donkeys.

Aren't they so cute...
