Wright's Christmas Program

We have quite the performer on our hands. Wright loves being on stage and really comes alive, getting into all the motions and taking the singing VERY seriously. His Christmas program at school was a big deal to him and having Mimi, his cousins, Aunt Melanie, Candace, Wesley AND Dad all come to watch made him feel very special! His class sang three songs and hard ones too. They did Frosty the Snowman, Away in a Manger and three verses of Do You Hear What I Hear. It was impressive! I wish these pictures could even begin to do justice to his star quality :)

Wright's Prayer

Loved this prayer of Wright's last night :)

Dear Lord,
Thank you for Mommy, Daddy and Spencer. Thank you for all my presents I got for Christmas. Help me to enjoy them...I just love them so much. Thank you for holding me with your right hand. Amen.

Santa Stops 2011

We had a great time at our 3rd annual Santa stops. This is one of the best traditions and the kids love that Santa comes to visit them personally, brings a small gift and reads them a Christmas story.

Spence waiting for the big guy to arrive.

All the kids minus Amelia.

I actually got TWO good shots of all of them!

The original three :)

Spencer and Maddie - I think he has a crush on her...

He's FINALLY here!

Wright told Santa he wanted a lightning McQueen car that races.

Our Boys

Here are some tidbits on the boys recently...

Spencer:

  • Everytime I get out the camera, he immediately sits down, gives a big smile and says "Cheese"

  • He loves to play with the dog bowls STILL, today he came walking in the room with dog water all over his face! He had clearly been trying to drink with Lucy.

  • He talks all the time now and no one knows what he is saying but him. He'll come up to me and look at me intently saying something like "Ba ba da be la do Mommy". Oh how I wish we spoke the same language.

Wright

He just cracks us up every single day. Here are some recent funnies:

  • At Thanksgiving dinner, his uncle asked his cousin what he wanted to drink to which Wright chimed in "How about some vodka?" After much laughter, he followed it up with "My mommy loves vodka." LOL! That night he told us he was "just being silly..."

  • Out of nowhere, he will use expressions like "As a matter of fact Mom" or "Get a grip Spence!"

  • Today someone asked me for my phone number and I said "214.80.." and he finished my number for me. I had no idea he even knew it! Such a sponge!

We have been working on scripture memory as a family and he has already learned 6 new verses in 6 weeks. It is amazing to watch him learn and so neat when I catch him singing the verses to himself when he doesn't know I am watching.

Some pics...

Christmas PJs!

When I looked out the window, I saw Spencer teeing up the ball and hitting it himself. I ran out to take a pic and as soon as I saw him, he sat down and said "Cheese!" (below).

Gingerbread Houses

We had our 3rd annual cousin gingerbread house decorating at our house this year.

Thanksgiving

We started out Thanksgiving this year taking the boys to the Turkey Trot with Aunt Megan. It was quite an adventure. Spencer was bored and cold so cried a lot, but the rest of us had a great time. Afterward, we cooked and then went up to Frisco for turkey dinner with the Mitchells, and Will and Judy.

Wright's Lord's Prayer

Wright has been learning the Lord's prayer at CBS. This morning he started saying parts of it that he remembered. Some were spot on but this made me laugh so hard....

Instead of "Lead us not into temptation", he said "Lead us God into temptation."

Instead of "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.", he said "Thy kingdom come, I will be dumb."

HA! You can't make this stuff up!

Happy Halloween!

We had a great Halloween this year. Wright was Batman and Spencer was his trusty sidekick Robin. I am so mad because I had all these precious pictures of them in their costumes that I accidentally deleted from my camera! So...here is what was left.

Wright got to go to school dressed up and have a class party. They sang three Halloween songs for the moms, and it was precious.

The best pic I could get of me with my two Superheros.

The Superhero Squad - Robin, Batman, Green Lantern and Captain America.

Wright definitely got the whole trick or treating thing this year and literally ran between houses.

Spencer was pretty into it too but liked to pass the candy out to everyone else...until he discovered that he could eat it. Then there was no turning back. :)

He got a little left behind but all in all, he held his own and loved every minute of it. After trick or treating we went to the carnival in Melanie's neighborhood and got even MORE candy!

Wright's Sweet Prayer

Tonight Wright said such a sweet prayer that I wanted to write it down. It went like this...

Dear God, thank you for Jesus, thank you for healing the sick people, thank you for taking care of us, thank you for loving us even when we make mistakes. In your name we pray, Amen.

I suppose that this is why Jesus tells us to have faith like a child. He sure nailed it, didn't he?

Jack-O-Lanterns

We had a great time carving pumpkins. Wright had been begging to do it for weeks and he chose the monster looking stencil. Brendan and I did the cat :) Happy Halloween!

Batman Birthday Party

Wright is 4 and we celebrated with a Batman themed backyard party. This year we had just boys from Sports Camp and school and it was a perfect small group which made it less overwhelming for Wright (he broked down several times last year). All in all a big success!

Posing before the party.

My bat boys.

My sister let me borrow her batman tee shirt from Brewer's bday party.

Wesley and Spencer - getting to be good buddies :)

We got a Batman bounce house.

And played Bat, Bat, Joker (aka Duck Duck Goose)

I LOVE this pic of my boys.

The Batman pinata was a huge hit!

Cheering on the pinata.

Cake!

Love the bright blue icing ALL over their faces...

Rangers

We had the best time at the Rangers ALCS game 2 last. First time ever walk off grand slam in post season history by Nelson Cruz! The crowd was wild! So so so fun :) I'm so glad Brendan let me tag along on his guy's night.

Updates on the Boys

Wright
- He comes home everyday and before I can get him out of the car, he has gone to his room and taken his shoes, socks and pants off. Then he runs outside to play in his underwear.
- Recently he is really interested in his ABCs and is constantly asking what letter words start with. He also knows most letters and their sounds. It was like it happened overnight.
- He is obsessed with his cousins and is always talking about Max and Luke to everyone who will listen. The other day I heard a kid in his class say that "fan" starts with the letter F and then Wright said "Max and Luke have fans at their house!" His poor teacher must be so annoyed.
- He has the kindest heart and is always telling me I am pretty and asking us about our day. Everyday after school he tells Spencer "Buddy, your work is so good. I am so proud of you."
- He has been telling me a lot recently that he wants a baby sister.
- His favorite things to do are swing (now that he can pump his legs), play outside, play action figures and Batman cave, go out to eat and of course watch shows.
- He loves to listen to "songs about Jesus" when we are in the car.

Spencer
- He says "Meow" about cats and any other word that starts with C. His teacher Miss Claudia is "Meow".
- His favorite thing to do is play outside/"guide" on the slide and swing. When he is inside, he doesn't really play as much as he wanders around.
- He has always been easy to drop off but recently has become very clingy when its time to go to school or church.
- When I put him in crib time, he never plays. Instead he just grabs his blanket/"ni ni" and lays there for 45 minutes.
- He thinks he is 4 years old. We found him a few weeks ago in the backyard trying to drive the Jeep car.
- He idolizes his big brother "Rye". I catch him in the back seat just staring at Wright the whole time we are in the car.
- He is not small at all but we are not sure why not because he eats half of what Wright did at his age.
