Easter 2010

Luke, Max and Wright in their Easter best. Luke kept tickling Wright to get him to smile.

Our family - Spencer slept ALL Easter morning and then when we were ready for a nap, he was wide awake!

Wright still loves to eat the chocolate out of the eggs immediately.

Jake showing us an egg he found in our yard.

Spencer is 12 weeks old!

Spencer is 12 weeks old today! He is such a sweet boy and we love him so much. Last night he had a big night and slept from 10:30 to 5am! YAY!

Here are some pics I took of him today.

Here is Wright at 12 weeks. I don't think they look alike at all!

Fun Day and Funny Wright

Last week we went to the arboretum and Wright was pretty much a disaster the whole time. He kept running off from me and continually disobeying. So when we decided to go again today, I was a little apprehensive. Wright and I had a talk on the way there about staying with mommy and obeying. That combined with prayers about it made for a great day! He was so good and we really had a wonderful time. We even managed to get a few good pics.
Spencer loved being outside and laying in the shade of the stroller.

Wright, Lanie and Eleanor.
We of course had to bribe the kids to get a decent pic. :)

When we got home, I asked Wright what his favorite part of the day was. I asked "Was it the play houses?", "Was it the petting zoo?", "Was it running in the field?" He kept answering no. So I said "Well what was your favorite part?" He goes, "Um sandwiches and chips." So typical.

Another funny thing happened when he was in the bath tonight. He put the water cup on his head and said "Look Mommy, its my birthday, my birthday hat." So we sang happy birthday to Wright together and then pretended to blow out the candles. Then I asked what he wished for and he said "cupcakes." After that, he had to sing happy birthday to Eleanor and Lanie. And then the suprise one, Mr. Scott (Eleanor's dad).

Light at the End of the Tunnel

It looks like we are getting closer to Spencer sleeping through the night! He has started going 6 hours at night now, up from 4.5. We feed him at 10:30pm and he wakes up at 4:30am. Cannot wait until he is making it until 7am! He has also started cooing and is just so happy pretty much all the time, smiling and just hanging out peacefully. He is a definite second child, completely just goes with the flow. We are so blessed :) On another note, drinking lots of white wine and having to feed a baby at 4:30am is not a good combo - note to self...

Clever Little Boy

Wright is so funny how he hears people's names and then combines them into something that he already knows. I have blogged before about how he kept calling Bredan's friend Jared "Tom and Jared". Since then he has also named the lady who cuts his hair Miss Ginger "Miss Gingerbread Man". His friend Jack Henry is "Jack Henry the Octopus" (Henry the Octopus is from the Wiggles). There is also Dr. Stager who he calls Dr. Steak and the guy who he gets his glasses from Mr. Bill who he insists is "Little Bill" (a show on Nick Jr.) Just want to remember these funny little things he says. The kid makes me laugh!

Two Boys in a Bath

Spencer usually hates the bath but had the best time in the tub with his brother tonight. Wright loved it too although he is definitely ready for Spencer to be a little bigger and be able to play with him. Wright has also learned to say "cheese" for the camera which allows us to get somewhat of a smile - a virtual miracle!

Rawr Morris is Back!

We went to the Arboretum today and Wright got his face painted like a tiger. He was running around screaming "Rawr!" So funny! Speaking of running around, he ran off from me about a million times no matter what I tried to keep him close. Definitely need to work on that. Meanwhile, I am exhausted and need a nap (but then again I guess that isn't any different than most days ;)

Big Smiles

Spencer is a big smiler these days and especially loves when you talk to him or tickle his chin.

Thomas the Train

We had a great time taking Wright to the Grapevine Railway to ride Thomas the Train on Sunday morning. Wright loved everything about it and Spencer just hung out in the Bjorn and was very go with the flow as usual.
All my boys in front of Thomas.
The three of us on the train.
Wright posing with me on the train - had to have snacks of course!

He loved the mural of three of the trains.

Bragging on Wright

So I would be lying if I did not admit how challenging Wright is these days. Every minute with him pretty much is a test of patience for me. But, I also know how wonderful he is and I am so proud of him in so many ways. He is funny, smart and so so sweet and loving. So I am going to brag on him a bit with these few stories I don't want to forget.

- The other day I was laying in bed and Brendan went to get him up. He came running into my room, climbed up on my bed, laid on top of me, hugged me tight and said "Oh mommy, I miss you!"
- Last week, he was running around the play room and he had an undeniable dirty diaper. Brendan asked "Wright do you have a dirty diaper?" and he quickly replied "No, that's Spencer."
- This morning, Brendan was giving him breakfast and he asked for more grapes and Brendan replied "Ok you can have 4 more" to which Wright answered "How about 5?"
- My mom takes him to BSF with her every week and he goes to the children's program and learns so much about the bible. Since my mom was out of town last week, he had to miss his class. When she brought him back this week, the teachers said "Oh Wright, we are so glad you are here, you know all the answers!" That makes a mom proud!

Ok, enough bragging for now. :) I sure do love this little guy!

Pics with Girlfriends

Here are some cute pics of our boys with the Woodard girls.

Spencer and Amelia - only 6 weeks apart. Is she putting her hand on Spencer's knee?

Wright and Eleanor had a great time at our house on Friday night jumping on the trampoline together!

Can you tell how hysterical they were? It was so cute.

Spencer 2 months

Spencer is 2 months old! He had his doctor appointment on Monday and he is 5th % for weight, 25th% for height. The doctor said that he is small for a 2 month old but would be closer to 25th% weight and 75th% height if he was born on his due date. Basically we have a tall and skinny kiddo. He kept assuring me that he was already catching up. He is a little behind physically for an 8 week old but would be advanced for a 3.5 week old. He is tracking more like a 6 week old. By 6-9 months, he should be up to speed with kids his age. I am definitely not worried that he will be small long-term, but it is crazy that he is 9lbs at 2 months and if I had made it full term, he could have been that size at birth!

On another note, he is starting to smile at us and even make some coo-like noises. He is still such a cuddle bug and loves to snuggle with us. But he is also perfectly content hanging out by himself in his crib or bouncy seat. He has dropped one nighttime feeding and is making it 4.5 hour stretches. Basically we put him down at 10:30am, he gets up around 3am and then again at 7am. throught the day, he eats every 3 hours and is eating between 4-5 oz each time. We are counting the days until he is sleeping through the night. Hopefully in the next few weeks!

What's Goin' On With Us...

I haven't posted anything in a while. Guess life has just been a bit too busy and even though we are in constant motion, I don't really feel like I have anything very exciting to report. Wright seems to be having a bit of a run with the terrible twos over the past few weeks. Lots and lots and lots of whining and melting on the floor when he doesn't get his way. He knows he is being disobedient but he is just constantly testing the limits and trying to see what he can get away with. I am sure much of it comes from the recent life changes he has had. On a good note, he LOVES his baby brother and does not seem to connect that the hard time he is having is probably as a result of Spencer being born. So, he is constantly petting his baby's head and interested in what Spencer is doing. I have been working on teaching him that God wants us to have a happy spirit and joyful heart to try and help with the whining. I am not sure how much of this he understands, but I have started singing "I've got that joy joy joy down in my heart" and "If you're happy and you know it" when he is having a breakdown and it seems to at least distract him enough to help somewhat. We'll see... Spencer is such a good baby. He sleeps great when he is not waking up to eat (which is still a lot). We have had some on and off nights of long stretches between feedings so we are hoping that he is getting close to consistently making it 5-6 hours. The difference between getting up once vs twice a night is huge, so I will be very happy when he can go longer. Tomorrow he is 8 weeks old and I cannot believe it! Seems especially weird since he is so much more like a newborn than Wright was at this age.

Snow, snow and more snow

Yesterday was a fun day in the snow, but today was a little more than this city could handle. We got about 10 inches total. That is enough to break tree branches and knock down power lines. Our front and back yard look like a war zone with branches everywhere and our power was out all day. We played a little bit in it this morning before the power went out. Then we had to pack up everything and head over to Mimi's house to stay warm. We planned on being there for at least 24 hours because power is out all over the city. But, we are some of the lucky ones and it was back on by 5pm.

Here you can see how thick the snow is on our roof.

Some of the broken branches in our front yard.

Back yard damage.

Our mini snowman that we made this morning.

Spencer is 6 weeks old

We cannot believe that Spencer is already 6 weeks old! He is such a sweet and easy baby thus far, we just love him!
